Ukrainian forces destroy 1,330 soldiers, 8 MLRS, 11 tanks per day - General Staff

Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in the Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Marinka, Kupyansk and Shakhtarsk sectors. The Armed Forces also killed 1,330 Russian soldiers

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this on November 16.

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022 to November 16, 2023 are estimated at:

  • personnel - about 315,620 (+1,330) people
  • tanks - 5,388 (+11) 
  • armored combat vehicles - 10,121 (+17)
  • artillery systems - 7,683 (+36)
  • MLRS - 892 (+8)
  • air defense systems - 585 (+3)
  • aircraft - 323

  • UAVs of operational and tactical level - 5,689 (+14)
  • cruise missiles - 1,563 (+1)
  • ships/boats - 22
  • submarines - 1
  • motor vehicles and fuel tankers - 10,060 (+40)
  • special equipment - 1,084 (+1)

Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks in 5 directions, 65 clashes took place on the frontline overnight

The General Staff says this in its report

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains challenging.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: about 30 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in frontline Ukrainian regions

In the Kupyansk direction, about 10 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, about 15 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, about 20 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, more than 10 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

In the Marinka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, about 25 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol sector, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

Russian army launched 8 missile strikes, 29 airstrikes against Ukraine

Over the past day, Russian forces launched another series of missile attacks on civilian targets in Selydove, Donetsk region, and Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region.

In addition, last night the invaders again launched another missile and air strikes on Ukraine, and the attack of UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type continues.

Over the last day, 65 combat engagements took place. In total, Russia launched 8 missile strikes, 29 airstrikes, and about 76 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 13 artillery pieces and a munitions depot

Over the day, the Defense Forces’ aviation launched 10 strikes on the invading Russian troops’ military positions and another 3 on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

The missile troops hit 2 manpower concentration areas, 13 artillery pieces, a munitions depot, and an air defense facility.

  • Over the past day, 58 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Russia launched 4 missile strikes, 29 airstrikes, and about 46 MLRS attacks at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.
