Ukrainian forces advance by another 12.6 sq. km in one week in south and by 2 sq. km near Bakhmut
The Ukrainian military has already liberated more than 204 square kilometers in the south, and about 37 square kilometers in the Bakhmut direction
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar.
The enemy's main focus remains on Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions where heavy fighting continues.
In the past week, there were over 170 battles between Ukrainian and Russian troops in these areas. During this time, the Defense Forces regained control of almost 15 square kilometers of land.
Demining operations are ongoing in the areas that have been liberated.
Bakhmut direction
The Russians tried hard to halt the Armed Forces' offensive during the week. Despite their efforts, our defenders have been making gradual progress.
During the week, the Defense Forces reclaimed an additional 2 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. The total area freed in the Bakhmut direction is now 37 square kilometers.
The Armed Forces are firmly positioned in the south
Ukraine continues its offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk areas.
In the direction of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, the Ukrainian military achieved success, and they are now consolidating their positions.
In the south, an area of 12.6 square kilometers was recaptured in a week. Overall, since the beginning of Ukraine's counteroffensive, 204.7 square kilometers have been liberated.
