The European Commission reported the information.

By celebrating Europe Day, the European Commission reaffirms its unwavering support and solidarity with Ukraine and its people.

"Europe was there for Ukraine when Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022. We are still there today. And we will be there for as long as it takes," the statement reads.

• European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has arrived in Kyiv on May 9 and will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

• Today, May 9, Ukraine joined the Europe Day celebrations for the first time in 20 years. This holiday is traditionally celebrated on May 9 in the EU and other countries as a sign of peace and unity on the continent.
