For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a Ukrainian film A House Made of Splinters has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film. The film was co-produced by Denmark, Ukraine, Sweden and Finland with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency.

The film about Ukrainian children living in an orphanage near the front line was directed by Simon Lereng Wilmont (Denmark). Azad Safarov was the second director and line producer.

The film shows the stories of children from a special orphanage in eastern Ukraine. It also features several educators who are trying to create a safe space for children near the front line in the midst of the war with Russia.

The winners of the Oscars 2023 will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held in Los Angeles on March 12. American comedian and TV host Jimmy Kimmel will host the event.
