Ukrainian energy system has been stabilized - Ukraine’s Prime Minister
By the end of the week, Ukraine's utility industry has stabilized the power system's operation, but there is still a power deficit of about 20%.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Facebook.
"As of the end of the week, we managed to stabilize the operation of the power system. The power deficit remains at the level of about 20%. More than 1,000 specialists are working daily to repair networks," he wrote.
He has also reminded that the EBRD and the Netherlands are allocating EUR 372 million to Ukrenergo state energy company for the prompt repair of damage caused by Russian attacks. Besides, Norway allocates 200 million euros to Naftogaz, national oil and gas company of Ukraine, to purchase gas. Another 300 million euros is allocated for these purposes by the EBRD. The Cabinet of Ministers provided UAH 12.7 billion to Naftogaz for additional purchases of gas to fill Ukraine’s storage facilities.
Shmyhal also noted that some of the 4,000 Invincibility Centers, a project of the Ukrainian authorities, initiated in response to massive shelling of critical infrastructure, are already fully operational, and soon there will be more.
He summed up the international financial aid to Ukraine provided over this week. In particular, Ukraine’s accounts received EUR 2.5 billion from the European Union, and Canada issued bonds worth CAD 500 million, the proceeds of which will be transferred to Ukraine.
The European Parliament voted to allocate EUR 18 billion in aid to Ukraine in 2023, and the United States announced the allocation of USD 4.5 billion to finance Ukraine’s budget. Another EUR 200 million of aid is allocated by the Netherlands and EUR 100 million by France.
