Ukrainian drone takes out $100M Russian Tu-22M3 bomber — Ukraine’s top general
Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber was recently destroyed by a Ukrainian drone. Meanwhile, Russian sources claimed the aircraft crashed due to an alleged technical malfunction
He made this statement in an interview with Lb.ua.
"A few days ago, through our successful actions, a long-range Tu-22M3 bomber was destroyed. It had just landed, and our drone hit it," said the commander.
According to him, the value of the Russian Tu-22M3 bomber is approximately $100 million.
"The Russian fleet is essentially locked in Novorossiysk. Sometimes it breaks out, but for them, it's a challenge because they know they are constantly under threat of our strikes," Syrskyi added.
The general also noted that another target during Ukraine’s "deep strike" operations is Russian air defense systems. Ukrainian drone strikes significantly weaken both the air defense systems and the equipment used to detect aerial threats. Syrskyi emphasized that each of these stations costs Russia tens of millions of dollars.
- On the evening of April 8, the Russian occupying army launched UAVs against Ukraine. In Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Kramatorsk, civilians, including a child, were injured as a result of the Russian attacks.
