
Russian drones strike multiple Ukrainian cities, child among injured
On the evening of April 8, the Russian occupying army launched UAVs against Ukraine. In Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Kramatorsk, civilians, including a child, were injured as a result of the Russian attacks

At 8:13 p.m. of the previous day, a threat of Russian drone activity was recorded in the Kharkiv region. By 8:48 p.m., the movement of Russian UAVs heading toward Kharkiv was detected. Shortly after, the Ukrainian military spotted several more groups of drones flying through the Donetsk region toward the area.
Massive Russian drone strike hits Kharkiv
At 9:11 p.m., the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported a strike by a Russian Shahed drone on Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi district. Five minutes later, an explosion was heard in the city.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov added that a fire broke out at the impact site.
"Both explosions occurred in roughly the same area. An outbuilding is on fire. There is no information about casualties at this moment," he wrote.
At 9:26 p.m., Syniehubov reported a second Russian strike on the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Later, Terekhov confirmed one person was injured.
"As a result of the Russian drone strike in the Kyivskyi district, a fire broke out. The strike hit a two-story building. Emergency services are on the scene," Syniehubov wrote at 9:32 p.m.
At 9:39 p.m., he reported a Shahed drone had hit the ground in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties.
At the same time, Terekhov also reported information about a Russian drone strike on the Industrialnyi district.
"If confirmed, this would be the third strike on Kharkiv today," the mayor added.
At 10:19 p.m., Terekhov announced that warehouse facilities were burning in the Industrialnyi district. Three minutes later, a fourth explosion was heard in Kharkiv that evening, followed by a fifth just a minute after.
"Another series of explosions in Kharkiv. The massive UAV attack on the city continues," he wrote at 10:29 p.m., adding that fires had broken out at the impact sites.
At 11:12 p.m., Ihor Terekhov reported that two more people were injured in the latest series of explosions.
"In the Osnovianskyi district, as a result of the attack, two people are already injured," Terekhov wrote.
At 11:41, the mayor of Kharkiv informed that, according to preliminary reports, over 20 strikes had hit the city that evening, with 17 of them in the Osnovianskyi district.
At 11:47, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported the aftermath of the Russian Shahed drone attacks:
- In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the drone hit an open area.
- As a result of the strike in the Kyivskyi district, the second floor and roof of an abandoned building caught fire. The drone also hit the ground in a private yard, damaging the roof, fence, and outbuildings.
- In the Industrialnyi district, three drones fell in an open area.
- As a result of the drone strikes in the Osnovianskyi district, fires broke out.
As of 1:05 a.m., the spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that two people were injured as a result of the strikes on Kharkiv: a man around 65 years old with a shrapnel wound to the head, and a woman around 50 years old with an acute stress reaction.
According to him, the strikes in the Osnovianskyi district targeted the industrial zone – all damaged enterprises are civilian.
The State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported that on the evening of April 8, Russia launched a massive drone strike on the Kyivskyi, Industrialnyi, and Osnovianskyi districts of the city.
"The strikes targeted civilian enterprises, warehouse and production buildings, and car service stations. Six fire outbreaks occurred. The total area of the fire is over 1,200 square meters. According to preliminary data, two people were injured. DSNS units, the National Police, medical teams, and municipal services are working at the scene," the report states.
Aftermath in Dnipro city
At 10:58, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, stated that as a result of the Russian UAV attack, fires broke out in Dnipro.
"Preliminarily, there is damage to private houses and vehicles. We are confirming the details," he added.
Later, he reported that six people were injured in the attack. One woman is in critical condition.
At 11:49, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration reported that the number of injured had risen to 14.
"Half of the victims have been hospitalized. One person remains in critical condition, while the others are in moderate condition. Doctors are constantly by their side," he added.
As a result of the Russian drone attack, five high-rise buildings were damaged. Some of them have damaged gas lines. There is also damage in the private sector, said Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov.
"Utility services have already started dealing with the aftermath — cleaning up glass and clearing the roads... In the morning, a district commission will also collect applications for inspecting the damaged property," he added.
By the morning, it became known that 15 people had been injured as a result of the Russian drone attack. Private houses, high-rise buildings, and vehicles were also damaged. There is destruction on the premises of several enterprises.
Russian strike hits residential building in Kramatorsk
A residential building in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, was hit by a Russian drone. The head of the Kramatorsk City Military Administration, Oleksandr Honcharenko, reported that, according to preliminary information, there are casualties.
Local Telegram channels report that a Shahed drone hit a residential building, causing a fire.
The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, stated that three people, including a child, were injured as a result of the night strikes on Kramatorsk.
"Last night, the city was under a massive attack by Russian drones. According to preliminary information, an 11-year-old girl, her 34-year-old mother, and her 55-year-old grandmother were injured. We are assessing the extent of the damage," he wrote, adding that government representatives, the police, rescuers, and all relevant services are working at the strike sites.
