Ukrainian aviation destroys Russian control center, 3 SAMs overnight – General Staff

In turn, missile and artillery units struck two command posts, an air defense facility and an artillery unit at the enemy's firing position over the day.

Russia launched 30 airstrikes, 8 missile strikes against Ukraine

Invading Russian forces also launched 19 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, the Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, schools and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

Over the last day, 26 combat engagements took place in the main frontline areas

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

• In the Kupyansk direction, 3 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

• In the Lyman direction, over 10 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

• In the Bakhmut direction, over 15 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

• In the Avdiivka direction, more than 4 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

• In the Maryinka direction, over 7 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

• In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 5 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 25 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol sector, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

• In the morning of August 28, an explosion occurred in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region, in the barracks of Kadyrov fighters.
