Ukrainian Armed Forces stop Russian offensive in 2 directions
As of the morning of June 23, Ukrainian soldiers have stopped the Russian offensive in the Kupyansk and Lyman directions, and lead offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, with partial success
Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, shared the information on Telegram.
"In the Kupyansk and Lyman directions, our defense forces stopped the enemy's offensive," she wrote.
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian Defense Forces lead offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.
"Near Novodanylivka - Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka - Novofedorivka, they have had partial success, are consolidating on the taken lines, inflicting artillery fire on the identified enemy targets, and carrying out counter-battery measures," the statement said.
In addition, Russian troops’ current priority is defense and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops in the Orikhiv direction, using reserves, and trying to restore the lost position.
The Ukrainian army continues to hold back the offensive of Russian troops in Lyman, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Particularly heavy fighting continues:
- in the Lyman direction - near the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region
- in the Avdiivka direction - near the towns of Sieverne and Avdiivka, Donetsk region
- in the Marinka direction - near the towns of Marinka and Pobieda, Donetsk region
"The Ukrainian defense forces are bravely holding the line, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy," the General Staff added.
A unit of over 300 Russian soldiers arrives in temporarily occupied Kreminna
Suffering heavy losses, Russian terrorists are using Ukrainian citizens as human shields.
Thus, a unit of Russian occupying forces consisting of over 300 people arrived in the temporarily occupied Kreminna. The invaders are quartered in small groups in private homes among the local population, Ukrainian soldiers say.
- Earlier, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on June 22, Russian troops were attacking in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. In particular, in the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Synkivka and an airstrike near Kyslivka. Ten settlements across the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
- Meanwhile, in the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region and air strikes near 6 more settlements. Nine settlements across Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under artillery fire.
