Russian troops try to regain lost ground near Makarivka, over 30 combat clashes take place over last day - AFU General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in a morning report on June 23.

Russian troops attack in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, where over 30 combat clashes took place during the day.

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy 23 Russian artillery units at firing positions and 2 communication centers

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 7 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and 4 on the anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck a control center, 4 concentrations of personnel and military equipment, 2 ammunition depots, 1 fuel and lubricant depot, 23 artillery units at firing positions, 2 electronic warfare facilities and 2 communication centers.

Russia launches 49 air strikes and about 50 MLRS attacks on Ukraine in a day

Last night, on June 23, Russian terrorists launched another massive missile and air strike against Ukraine, using Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and Shahed “kamikaze” drones. Information on the consequences of this attack is currently being clarified.

Over the past day, Russian troops launched a missile and air strike on the territory of Ukraine, using 3 Kh-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, 3 Kh-22 cruise missiles and 4 Shahed-136/131 “kamikaze” drones. Air defense forces and means destroyed 3 drones.

In addition, Russian forces launched 49 air strikes and about 50 MLRS attacks. 

The threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains very high.

Situation in the directions

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

On the northeastern border with Russia,  Russian troops launched air strikes near 2 settlements in the Kharkiv region. 

They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of 17 settlements across Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Synkivka and an airstrike near Kyslivka. Ten settlements across the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region and air strikes near 6 more settlements. Nine settlements across Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 settlements. They also shelled 9 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near Avdiivka and another settlement.

The Russian army also launched air strikes near 2 settlements and shelled 5 others with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful assault near 2 settlements. 

They also launched an air strike on Krasnohorivka and shelled 4 more settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched air strikes on 3 settlements. They also shelled 3 more settlements. 

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian forces are on the defensive, their priority is preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops.

They are trying to regain his lost position near Makarivka, Donetsk region.

They launched air strikes on 3 settlements in Donesk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Russian troops shelled 22 settlements across Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

• On June 22, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were leading their offensive in 3 directions, while Russia was using reserves and trying to regain lost ground. In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted offensive operations near the settlements of Bilohorivka and Dibrova, achieved partial success, and held their positions. And in the Rivne-Staromayorske direction, they had partial success, consolidated their positions, inflicted artillery fire on the enemy targets and carried out counter-battery measures.
