Ukrainian Armed Forces shoot down a Russian reconnaissance drone and a Ka-52 helicopter, hit 14 personnel concentrations - AFU General Staff

On Wednesday, January 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shot down an experimental Russian Merlin-VR reconnaissance drone and a Ka-52 helicopter. Aviation, missile troops and artillery, in turn, hit 14 Russian personnel concentrations

This is stated in the evening report of the AFU General Staff.

During the day, Ukrainian aviation launched 13 strikes on Russian personnel concentrations and 3 on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.

In turn, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's missile troops and artillery struck 1 Russian control point, 1 area of concentration of manpower and 1 electronic warfare station.

Russian troops in Kherson region massively steal household appliances and furniture

The General Staff reported that Russian soldiers do not stop looting on the temporarily occupied territories.

In the settlements of Hornostaivka, Kairy, Bratolyubivka and Nyzhni Sirohozy, Kherson region, Russian soldiers, moving in groups of 10 to 15 people, search empty houses of local residents and steal all household appliances and furniture.

"During the day, the enemy launched 22 airstrikes and more than 50 MLRS attacks," the statement said.

Russian army is unsuccessfully trying to attack in several directions

The General Staff reported that the Russian army is trying to capture the Donetsk region within its administrative borders, focusing its main efforts on the Bakhmut direction. It continues to conduct unsuccessful offensives in the Avdiivka area and is trying to improve the tactical situation in the Lyman direction.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops launched offensive actions near Orikhiv and Huliaipole, but were unsuccessful. In the Kupiansk, Vuhledar and Kherson directions, the Russian army is on the defensive. 

On the border with Belarus, the situation has not changed significantly, no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Joint exercises between Russia and Belarus continue on the territory of Belarus. The Ukrainian General Staff notes that they are working out practical tasks on the interaction of air and ground components in offensive operations.

In addition, Russian troops launched mortar and artillery shelling at 2 settlements of the Sumy region and 8 of the Kharkiv region.

The situation in other areas is as follows:

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops shelled 7 settlements of the Kharkiv region and 1 of the Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, a settlement of the Kharkiv region and 4 more of the Luhansk region came under fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, 13 settlements of the Donetsk region came under Russian fire. 

In the Avdiivka direction, 6 settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled.

In the Vuhledar direction, 3 settlements of the Donetsk region came under Russian fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian artillery fire hit more than 15 settlements of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

In the Kherson direction, 5 settlements of the region and Kherson city came under MLRS and cannon artillery fire. Civilians were injured.

Mykola Volokhov, commander of Terra intelligence unit, noted that small arms fighting continues for Soledar.
