Ukrainian Armed Forces: Enemy tries to assault in Donetsk region, while in Zaporizhzhia it holds defense

Over the past day, June 5, Russian troops fired 122 times at the positions of Ukrainian soldiers in the Zaporizhzhia region and 275 times in the Donetsk region. 

"Marinka remains the hottest spot in eastern Ukraine after Bakhmut, with over 40 combat engagements reported there yesterday. The enemy continues its offensive in the Avdiivka direction, while actively defending in the Zaporizhzhia direction, particularly in the Novopavlivka and Orikhove directions," said the speaker.

According to reports, the Russian army has been engaged in assault operations in the Donetsk region, aiming to capture the strongholds of the first echelon of Ukrainian defenders.

Russian troops shell Ukrainian troops' positions and nearby settlements along the contact line. They are employing tanks, cannon artillery, and rocket artillery in their attacks, as well as UAVs to assist in adjusting their artillery fire. In a recent incident, Ukrainian defenders successfully shot down a Merlin UAV during the previous night.

According to the spokesperson for the joint press center of the Tavria Defense Forces, Ukrainian soldiers are holding strong and taking measures to reduce the combat capabilities of the Russian army.

• In the Lyman and Bakhmut directions, Russia suffered losses with over 160 soldiers reported killed and approximately 230 wounded in a single day. In the Marinka direction, there were around 70 killed and over 100 wounded. 

• Ihor Lapin, a Special Forces officer, MP, noted on Espreso that the Ukrainian Armed Forces conduct combat reconnaissance on the front line.
