Ukrainian air defense destroys 87 missiles and 27 UAVs during massive attack on December 29

On the morning of December 29, the occupying Russian army has launched a massive attack on the territory of Ukraine, during which they launched 158 air strikes. Ukrainian air defense forces have destroyed 87 missiles and 27 drones

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and the Ukrainian Air Force reported the information.

"According to preliminary results, last night the enemy used 158 means of air attack against Ukraine: missiles of various types and attack UAVs," the Commander wrote.

He noted that Russian troops first attacked with Shahed drones from the north and southeast, and later shifted their trajectory to the west. A total of 36 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs were recorded.

Later, at around 3:00 a.m., Russian forces deployed Tu-95MS bombers. A total of 18 aircraft reached the launch line around 6:00 a.m., launching at least 90 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 air-launched cruise missiles. Additionally, from the Kursk region at about 5:00 a.m., Russian troops used Tu-22M3 long-range bombers to launch 8 Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles towards the northern and central regions of Ukraine.

"At the same time, the Russians attacked Kharkiv with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. In total, the enemy fired at least 14 missiles flying along the ballistic trajectory - S-300/S-400/Iskander-M from the occupied Crimea, Kursk and Belgorod regions of  Russia," said Zaluzhnyi.

In addition, at 6:30 a.m., 5 MiG-31K fighter jets were spotted taking off and launching 5 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Кгіішфєі Astrakhan region. Also, 4 Kh-31P and 1 Kh-59 anti-radar missiles were launched from Su-35 tactical aircraft.

 The Ukrainian Air Force, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, destroyed 114 air targets:

  • 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs;
  • 87 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles.

On the night of December 29, Russia launched several groups of Shaheds to attack Ukraine, and in the morning the terrorists launched missiles. Russian invading forces hit high-rise buildings, educational institutions, a shopping center and a maternity hospital. Civilians were wounded and killed in the attack.
