“Odesa has survived, and Odesa has something to shoot down enemy missiles. Today, the air defense was 100% effective. Six Kalibr and two Iskander missiles were destroyed. As a result of the night shelling of Odesa, there are wounded people, and they are now being treated. Unfortunately, one person was killed while performing a combat mission,” noted Bratchuk.
According to the head of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional Military Administration, enemy forces attacked Odesa from ground-based tactical complexes and from the sea.
“The Russian forces fired at Odesa from different directions. At night, an enemy submarine with 4 Kalibrs on board came in, and then it made a march to the Black Sea. It took up combat positions and fired 6 Kalibr missiles. It is difficult to shoot down Iskanders and Kalibrs. Two missiles were shot down over the city, and 6 missiles were destroyed in the sea before they reached Odesa,” emphasized Bratchuk.
On the evening of May 17, residents of Odesa heard explosions.
