Russia loses 850 soldiers, 13 tanks and 26 artillery systems in one day of war - General Staff

Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Marinka and Kupyansk directions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also eliminated 850 Russian soldiers

Russia's total combat losses from 24.02.22 to 29.12.23 are approximately:

  • personnel - about 357,520 (+850 per day)

  • MLRS - 938 (+3)

General Staff's report

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian army repelled 12 Russian attacks near the village of Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russia did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukraine's troops fended off 3 attacks near Bohdanivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the Russian army, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. They are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on Russia's troops. Thus, Ukraine's Defense Forces repulsed 14 attacks east of Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka and 12 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region, over the past day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops are holding back the Russian forces near Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 6 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russia did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 4 attacks south of Novodarivka, west of Verbove and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian forces continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, Russian troops keep trying to drive Ukraine's units out of their positions. Thus, over the past day, they made 13 unsuccessful assaults on the Ukrainian positions, were rebuffed and retreated.

Russian army launches 4 missile and 86 air strikes on Ukrainian territory

Over the last day, 53 combat clashes took place. In total, Russia launched 4 missile and 86 air strikes, and 55 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. 

Last night, the Russian army attacked Ukraine using 22 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Ukraine's air defense destroyed 18 attack UAVs. Also, this day, Russia launched missile and air strikes against Ukraine. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.

Two settlements in the Kharkiv region; three in the Luhansk region; eight in the Donetsk region; and one in the Zaporizhzhia region were hit by airstrikes.

About 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions were subjected to artillery fire.

Ukraine's forces destroy 2 anti-aircraft missile systems and 6 Russian ammunition depots

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupying forces, depleting the Russian army along the entire front line.

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck 17 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, 11 artillery units, 2 control points, 2 air defense stations, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems and 6 ammunition depots.

  • During the week, Ukrainian soldiers advanced near Bakhmut, Donetsk, region and continued positional combat operations with Russian troops.
