Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense writes about it on Twitter.

The Ministry of Defense ridiculed the Russians' unsuccessful attempts to destroy the combat aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Hide and seek. Last night, dozens of Russian missiles and Shaheds searched for Ukrainian planes and Storm Shadow missiles at the airfields. But it wasn’t until today, in Chonhar and near Henichesk, that the Russians finally found them," the message reads.

The Ministry of Defense uploaded a photo showing the destruction on the Chonhar and Henichesk bridges, which connect the temporarily occupied Arabat Spit with the mainland part of the country.

Ukrainian strikes on Chonhar and Henichesk bridges

On Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2023, missiles from the Defense Forces of Ukraine damaged the Chonhar Bridge and the bridge over the Henichesk Strait, which connects the city of Henichesk with the Arabat Spit. These bridges connect mainland Ukraine with the Crimean Peninsula.

Sergei Aksyonov, the head of the occupation administrations of Crimea, along with Vladimir Saldo of the Kherson region and Vladimir Rogov of the Zaporizhzhia region, announced the missile strikes.

Saldo mentioned that the Chonhar Bridge was attacked using "NATO Storm Shadow missiles." He also stated that the Ukrainians fired on the bridge across the Henichesk Strait, which links the city of Henichesk with the Arabat Spit.

Due to the damage caused by the strikes, transit across the bridges is temporarily being rerouted through the Armyansk and Perekop highways. One civilian who was crossing the bridge at the time of the missile strike was injured. Additionally, there were reported complications with the gas supply in Henichesk.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the missile strikes on these bridges. It was reported that at around 15:00, the Defense Forces of Ukraine targeted the Chonhar and Henichesk automobile bridges, which are vital communication routes for the occupiers.

The Institute for the Study of War referred to the missile strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on bridges in the occupied territory leading to Crimea as part of the Ukrainian interdiction campaign to create decisive counteroffensive operations.
