Ukraine's defense forces eliminate 680 Russian troops, 15 armored vehicles and 5 cruise missiles overnight

General Staff's report: over 30 combat engagements took place in 5 frontline areas

It is noted that the enemy continues to focus its main efforts on the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. 

Over the past day, 32 combat engagements took place there.

Russians carried out 49 air strikes and fired 72 MLRS at Ukraine

On July 20, Russian troops launched a massive air strike on the territory of Ukraine, using 3 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles, 5 Iskander-K land-based cruise missiles, 4 Kh-22 cruise missiles, 7 Oniks cruise missiles and 19 Shahed attack UAVs. According to the results of combat operations, air defense destroyed 2 Kalibr cruise missiles, 3 Iskander-K land-based cruise missiles and 13 Shahed attack UAVs.

In addition, the enemy conducted 49 air strikes and fired 72 missile attacks from multiple launch rocket systems. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, destruction and damage to industrial facilities, residential buildings and other infrastructure.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains very high.

Situation in different regions of Ukraine 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army carried out air strikes in the areas of Semenivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv region, Hrabove in Sumy region and the city of Sumy. It carried out mortar and artillery attacks on more than 25 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian troops are holding steady and successfully repelled enemy attacks southwest of Masiutivka in Kharkiv region. 9 settlements n Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, 2 settlements in Luhansk region and 6 settlements in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, under heavy fire from Russian army artillery, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled attacks on the southwestern outskirts of Klishchiiivka. More than 10 settlements suffered from Russian artillery shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, Under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled attacks near Nevelske. Russian soldiers conducted air strikes in the areas of Sievierne and the city of Avdiivka. At the same time, they shelled more than 10 settlements, in particular, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomayske and Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the areas of Novomykhailivka and Marinka in Donetsk region. The enemy launched air strikes near Oleksandropol and Novomykhailivka. It shelled more than 15 settlements in Donetsk region. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched air strikes in 5 settlements and as well fired at 5 settlements in Donetsk region.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army tries to deter further advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and made unsuccessful attempts to regain its lost position in the area north of Pryiutne, Zaporizhzhia region.

Russia launched air strikes in 4 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region and Kozatske in Kherson region. More than 30 settlements came under artillery fire in Zaporizhzhia region as well as 5 settlements in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors, consolidating their positions, inflicting artillery fire on the enemy targets identified, and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 10 artillery pieces at firing positions, 2 air defense systems and 4 important occupants' targets

Thus, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 8 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel over the past day. 

Missile and artillery units destroyed 10 artillery pieces at firing positions, 2 air defense systems, 2 electronic warfare stations and 4 other important enemy targets.

Ukrainian troops also managed to destroy one reconnaissance UAV of the operational and tactical level.

• On July 20, Russia lost more than two companies of soldiers and 15 pieces of military equipment in the Tavria sector. According to the General Staff, the Russian army lost a total of 530 soldiers, 6 tanks, and 33 UAVs during the war in Ukraine.
