Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation blocks more than hundred YouTube channels spreading Russian propaganda
In 2022, the Center for Countering Disinformation as a working body of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine managed to block more than 100 YouTube channels that spread Russian propaganda
Maryna Vorotyntseva, a senior analyst at the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the NSDC, informed about this at a media briefing in Media Center Ukraine.
“The CCD monitors all YouTube channels that spread Russian propaganda and disinformation. More than a hundred channels of this sort were blocked last year alone, with all content removed," Vorotyntseva said.
The CCD continues to identify YouTube channels that are spreading misinformation and propaganda.
“We verify these channels, identify their administrators and work with the Google management to remove them. I cannot say that all requests are being considered, but when we give sufficient reasoning and prepare an evidence base about this kind of content, the channels are getting blocked,” added the analyst.
