Ukraine's army claims Russia cannot support its logistics in south
Natalia Humeniuk, OC South spokeswoman, noted that after Ukraine struck key bridges connecting Crimea to the mainland, the Russians are using half of the shells they used before
She stated it on Espreso.
“The invaders are trying to fix things on the Chonhar and Henichesk routes. But their progress is slow due to their logistical issues. The Russians have set up pontoon structures in these areas. They're attempting to create a different bridge for moving their equipment. They mainly rely on the M17 road through Armyansk for their supplies. It's a safer route for them, but it's also risky because it's close to our Defense Forces, who can control and attack from there,” she said.
She also mentioned that the occupiers are pretending to be civilians and using civilian cars. Sometimes they even load their units onto civilian vehicles to move them on the side of the river.
“Even though the occupiers had stored a lot of resources on the river's left side, their expenses have gone up. This means they are running low on ammunition due to slow logistics. We've noticed that they now use 300-400 shells for 60 shots, which is actually half of what they used before. So, we can conclude that our successful operations against their ammunition stores, both in the field and in fixed locations, are affecting their capabilities," Humeniuk pointed out.
Chongar Bridge attack
During the night of June 22, the Russian occupiers reported an explosion on the Chonhar Bridge, which is close to temporarily occupied Crimea.
On the morning of July 29, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully attacked the Chonhar Bridge again. StratCom confirmed this information in the evening of the same day.
Missiles from the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the Chonhar Bridge on August 6, along with the bridge over the Henichesk Strait that links the city of Henichesk with the Arabat Spit.
On August 7, Serhii Khlan, a deputy in the Kherson Regional Council, informed that the Chongar Bridge remains closed, and small armored personnel carriers of the occupiers have started moving across the bridge towards Henichesk.
