Ukraine’s Air Forces explain how Kinzhal missiles appeared in Belarusian sky during Russia’s strike

During the massive Russian attack on Ukraine on August 5, the media reported that the Kinzhals were launched from Belarus as they crossed its airspace

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, during a telethon.

According to him, the Russian forces launched the missiles from Tambov. And naturally, they hit the airspace of Belarus when flying towards Khmelnytskyi region.

"A Kinzhal missile is flying from the direction of Belarus. That's all. And there is no need to manipulate the headlines that missiles are flying from Belarus, etc.", the spokesman stressed.

Ihnat also noted that the information about the alleged attack from Belarus itself was actively picked up by the media, "as something new". At the same time, he said, it should be remembered that Russia has been actively using the airspace over Belarus since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

"It was launched from a MiG-31K aircraft from the Tambov area. You know how it flies along the route, the crossroads of states - Russia, Belarus, Ukraine. It touches the airspace of Belarus. There is no problem for the Russians in this," Ihnat explained.

As a reminder, after 18:00 on Saturday, 5 August 2023, the Russian army fired at least three waves of cruise missiles at the territory of Ukraine. In the first case, it was Kalibr missiles, in the second and third, it was Kinzhal.
