Ukraine’s Air Force shares why attack on Russian A-50 surveillance aircraft near Minsk is important
The damage to the Russian Beriev A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft at the Machulishchy airfield is good news for Ukraine, as this reconnaissance aircraft was adjusting strikes
Spokesman of the Air Force Command Yurii Ihnat stated this during a telethon on February 27.
"This is good news for the Air Force. This aircraft reconnoitres our territory, conducts radar reconnaissance, determines where our air defence systems are located, tracks takeoffs and landings, and the direction of movement of our aircraft. It accompanies attacks when Russian cruise missiles are launched," he said.
"This is a unique aircraft. Our partners have similar aircraft. These aircraft are very important for combat operations, and Ukraine would also like to have such aircraft that would also support the actions of our aviation and reconnaissance," Ihnat added.
