Air Force Command spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said this at a briefing on April 7.
“For an offensive to be successful, it is necessary to gain air superiority first and foremost. Without air superiority, it is quite difficult to carry out offensive actions under enemy fire, to put it mildly,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine is receiving Patriot and Samp-T air defense systems with trained crews, and “this will strengthen our advantage in certain regions.” However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces also need modern multi-role aircraft of Generation 4+, primarily the F-16.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Brigadier General Serhiy Holubtsov has previously noted that the training program for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets may be cut.
