Ukraine’s agricultural sector down 20 billion USD due to Russian invasion - expert

Kyiv School of Economics, Economic Education Vice President and agro-industrial sector expert Oleg Nivyevsky says that Ukraine's agribusiness sector is suffering heavy losses due to the Russian invasion

He shared his analysis on Espreso TV.

"If we talk about the infrastructure of the entire agro-industrial complex, Ukraine has suffered losses of about 6 billion USD, and in general, the shortfall in agricultural income reaches about 20 billion USD," he said.

He added that we shouldn’t expect the same harvest we had every year from southern Ukraine. After all, he noted, occupying Russian forces ban the export of fruits and vegetables export to the rest of the country ie all areas they do not control.

"I think we should not expect vegetables and fruits from the occupied territories, because recently we saw reports that Zaporizhzhya entrepreneurs were forced to let the cucumber harvest rot, as there is a ban on the export of vegetables and fruits to the unoccupied territories," Nivyevsky said.
