On December 26, a powerful blow was inflicted on Engels military airfield

On the night of December 26, it became known about powerful explosions at the military airfield Engels in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation, where Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers are based.  These aircraft have launched cruise missiles over the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The attack on this airfield was conducted just when Russians were very likely preparing to attack Ukraine. Russian Ministry of Defense said that its air defense equipment shot down a Ukrainian drone, however, according to them, the missile only hit the UAV and it fell on the territory of the airfield. As a result of the strike, the building where the next shift of Russian pilots was located was destroyed. Three Russian servicemen were killed. Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that planes were not damaged. However, there were reports of a fire at the airfield, which they tried to extinguish for more than 3 hours. In order to make real conclusions about the effectiveness of the strike on Engels airfield, you need to wait for satellite images.

Russians will begin to feel the consequences of the war against Ukraine

I would like to remind you that the military airfield of Russian strategic aviation is located at a distance of more than 700 km from the Ukrainian border. Today's explosions at this airfield became the second in recent weeks. On December 5, after a drone strike on this airfield, satellite images recorded damage to at least one Tu-95 bomber. Of course, the Ukrainian side is in no hurry to admit involvement in this attack. Although spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine Yuriy Ihnat said that explosions at military airfields in Russian Federation are a consequence of what the Russian army is doing on Ukrainian territory. He also emphasized that Russians were deeply mistaken when they believed that they would not feel the consequences of war in the deep rear.

Ukraine's ability to strike Russian military facilities will only increase

Also, the captain of the Armed Forces noted that Russia does not have such a powerful air defense and anti-missile defense system. All available means of air defense of the Russian Federation cannot track all aircraft and missiles that cross Russian airspace.

And it doesn't matter by what means military airfields in Russian Federation were hit. The main thing is that they were affected. According to him, any military object is always covered by air defense systems of short and medium range. Therefore, according to Los, the greatest achievement in today's explosions on the territory of the Russian Federation is that the means of destruction can bypass the air defense systems of the Russian Federation.

Captain of Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Los also added that strikes on military facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation would be impossible without high-quality intelligence data. According to him, few people paid attention to the fact that in the packages of military aid from Ukrainian allies, a lot of money is allocated specifically for intelligence data. Therefore, according to him, credit should be given not only to the possibility of hitting military facilities of the Russian Federation but also to the important and timely information of our and foreign intelligence.
