Ukraine will be able to open its own doors in EU through its democracy, internal transformation - US diplomat Fried

"Even before the war, in particular before Putin's full-scale invasion on February 24, there was no political desire in Europe for Ukraine to join the European Union as such. After the war, the EU may think about it differently. Much depends on Ukraine, on what kind of will come out of the war, and what kind of national transformation Ukraine will experience after the war in the eyes of Europeans. After all, Maidan demanded it," said Daniel Fried.

An expert on Eastern Europe and sanctions policy is sure that Ukraine will be a member of the European Union after winning the war against the Russian Federation.

"I think that Ukraine will be able to open its own doors to Europe through its democracy and internal transformation. This war is being waged by the people of Ukraine, and when it wins, and I believe it will win, it will demand a European Ukraine. When people fight for this, they  will succeed, and when they succeed, the door to Europe will be open for them," he added.
