Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Tymchenko told Ukrinform that the majority of missing persons in the registry are military personnel.
"Currently, the registry includes information on 55,000 people, most of whom are servicemen. This number is quite dynamic; as we determine the whereabouts of missing persons, we sometimes find that a citizen is in captivity, for example. Unfortunately, we are also identifying deceased individuals among those previously listed as missing," said the deputy minister.
- On September 17, it was reported that about 40% of the people who were released from Russian captivity had the status of missing under special circumstances and had not been confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
