Ukraine exports record volume of products in April
Last month, Ukraine exported more than 13 million tons of products, which is more than in February 2022. In monetary terms, exports in April reached $3.3 billion
First Vice Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said this, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reports.
"The measures taken by the Ukrainian government together with our international partners to restore and increase exports are yielding excellent results. In April, we reached a record export volume of 13.1 million tons since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is 1.3 million tons more than in March. And more than Ukraine exported in February 2022," the official said.
According to her, Ukraine will continue to work to increase exports, especially non-resource exports, as this is part of the state policy Made in Ukraine.
"Along with increasing production and attracting investment in the real sector, this will contribute to economic development," the official explained.
Reasons for export growth
- The opening of an alternative sea corridor last summer, which allows Ukraine to export, among other things, grain and metal.
- The UNITY ship insurance program, created jointly with the British government and a pool of insurance companies.
- Improved conditions for the transportation of goods by rail to Danube ports.
Ukraine exported 12 million tons of products in January. For the first time, a vessel insured against war risks under the UNITY program was involved in export operations.
What is known about the Made in Ukraine program
In February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine would develop a cashback program to support entrepreneurs. Businesses will be refunded a portion of the money they spend on domestic goods and services.
Later, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Made in Ukraine trademark image.
At the end of March, the first Made in Ukraine office was opened in Sumy to support micro and small businesses. Entrepreneurs will be advised on the terms of participation in government programs.
