Ukraine to receive EU “reparation loan” soon, says French FM Barrot

He made this statement before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to him, Ukraine will receive financial aid in the form of a European Commission loan, intended to cover its defense needs for at least three years and to be repaid later using reparations expected from Russia. 

Barrot explained that the funds will help Ukraine acquire necessary weapons, particularly European-made arms, enabling it to maintain effective defense.

• At the end of August, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that even in the event of a ceasefire, Russia should not be allowed to reclaim its frozen assets in the EU until it pays reparations to Ukraine.
