Ukraine sends note to Poland over possible border blockade
Ukraine has sent an official note to Poland because of the Polish carriers' intention to start a strike on the Ukrainian-Polish border
Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych announced this on his Facebook page, according to Espreso.
According to him, in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, such actions to restrict the movement of goods across the border are at least inappropriate. Zvarych also noted that the Ukrainian side is in contact with the Polish authorities on this issue.
"The Polish side has been sent a message about the consequences of such protests for Ukraine and Poland, as well as for Ukrainian and Polish businesses. In addition, Poland's image and the interests of Polish entrepreneurs who intend to expand their participation in Ukraine's reconstruction projects will also suffer. We hope that the Polish side will be able to reach an understanding with the carriers, convince them that they need to cooperate rather than create difficulties at the border that no one needs - neither Poland, nor Ukraine, nor the whole of Europe," he emphasized.
Strikes on the Polish-Ukrainian border: what is known
Recently, it was reported that Polish carriers will go on strike at the border on November 3. They plan to block all available entrances from Ukraine. The reason for the strikes is excessive competition after the liberalization of international transportation between Ukraine and the EU.
In this regard, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine initiated a meeting with Poland and the European Commission.
