Ukraine plans to increase production of artillery shells abroad
Ukrainian arms-manufacturer Ukroboronprom spokeswoman Nataliya Sad reported that production of artillery shells has been launched in Ukraine.
She said this live on air of Espreso TV channel.
"Ukrainian army mostly fights with Soviet artillery systems. Unfortunately, there are not many Western artillery weapons in the ranks of Ukrainian Armed Forces. In Ukraine, arose a question of setting up its own serial production of calibers that are lacking on the front line. We are talking about 122 mm and 152 mm caliber shells," Sad remarked.
According to the spokeswoman, production of projectiles has been launched in Ukraine in many cities.
"In order to be able to supply shells to our artillery, we made serial production on the territory of Ukraine. Previously, we imported these shells from abroad, looking for them in partner warehouses. However, warehouses are running out, and volumes that we increase every month are not enough. We have secured support of allies and will increase volume of projectile production at foreign facilities, i.e. abroad," Sad added.
