Ukraine, NATO should form clear roadmap for joining Alliance – politician Dzherdzh
If the war ends with Ukraine reaching its borders, there will be no arguments, questions, or objections to joining NATO. It would be important to make a clear roadmap for joining the Alliance
Serhiy Dzherdzh, a serviceman with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, chairman of the Ukraine-NATO Public League and politician, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"If the war ends with us reaching the borders, there will be no arguments, questions or objections to joining NATO. For many years to come, the Ukrainian army will be the most powerful army in Europe, which has both combat experience and structure," he said.
According to Dzherdzh, Ukraine's membership will be an achievement not only for Ukraine itself, but also for NATO.
"There is little understanding in Europe that if Russia colonizes Ukraine in any way, it will use all Ukrainian potential against the West. And for us, as Europeans, it is important to be part of the European family – to use our full potential for a united Europe, for the prosperity and protection of European structures. I don’t think everyone in the West understands this yet," the politician emphasized.
He added that the accelerated accession of Sweden and Finland is positive for Ukraine, as it opens up new opportunities.
"It would be important to formulate a clear roadmap with NATO – what and how we should do, in what timeframe, by what means, what we should achieve in the course of implementation. So that it is clear to both us and our partners. When we fulfill these points, then all questions should be resolved," Dzherdzh summarized.
