Ukraine may have to give up Bakhmut to move forces south - Bloomberg
Ukraine may have to withdraw its troops from Bakhmut in Donetsk region and move them south. This retreat will have little strategic impact on war
Bloomberg reported about this citing unnamed American officials.
The media outlet warns that Ukraine will soon face 300,000 mobilized Russian soldiers, which is more than at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The publication also emphasizes that the promised Western weapons will arrive in Ukraine only in the spring, and that the Ukrainian Armed Forces must buy time until then.
"Given the time required for delivery, training, and the construction of supply lines, advanced battle tanks from Europe and the United States may not appear on the battlefield until spring. When they do, they will give Ukraine a much-needed boost," Bloomberg writes.
The US is advising Ukrainian forces to play for time to allow those tanks and other weaponry to arrive, according to a senior official.
"In order to gather resources for a spring offensive in the south, Ukraine may have to withdraw its troops from the eastern city of Bakhmut soon, US and European officials said, handing Russia a symbolic victory," the media outlet emphasized.
Bloomberg emphasizes that the retreat from Bakhmut will not have a major strategic impact on the war.
