Ukraine may consider allowing men under 24 to travel abroad without restrictions
Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, says that the parliament is considering raising the age limit for men allowed to travel abroad to 23 or 24 years
Fedir Venislavskyi made these remarks during a briefing, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to Venislavskyi, there is a proposal to allow Ukrainian citizens under 23-24 years old to travel abroad without restrictions.
“This issue is currently being discussed among MPs, particularly within our committee. There is a growing consensus across various parliamentary factions to bring this matter to a vote soon. The goal is to prevent losing young people who travel abroad and then cannot return due to the current restriction, which applies to men aged 18 to 60, imposed when martial law was introduced,” the MP said in response to a question about young people under 18 leaving the country and not coming back.
He emphasized that the issue is “quite sensitive,” noting the difficulty in setting a precise age limit for when a person can travel abroad.
However, he stressed that, in the short term, legislative initiatives addressing this topic will be introduced in parliament.
