Ukraine gets first batch of SCALP missiles, they will come regularly – Ambassador to France
Ukraine has already received all the SCALP long-range cruise missiles that the French authorities promised to provide as part of the first batch
Ukraine's Ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko said this, according to LB.ua.
"This batch was a test batch, the missiles have proven themselves well. SCALPs will be delivered, the supply will continue. The main issue with these deliveries is their pace, and the French are doing very well," the Ukrainian diplomat said.
He also stressed that if President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron say that "France has made a decision at the request of the Ukrainian side to provide us with some weapons", it means that they are "already in Ukraine and already working at the front".
For reference. SCALP is a Franco-British air-to-ground cruise missile, an analogue of the British Storm Shadow. It has a range of over 250 km, is highly accurate and almost invisible to radar. It can be adapted to the Su-24M. The warhead weighs 450 kg and has a self-destruct function. It was first used by Britain 19 years ago in Iraq.
- On July 11, Macron said that France had already handed over the first long-range missiles to Ukraine, and later it was revealed that they were SCALP systems.
