As part of the first aviation aid package, Ukraine expects to receive 2 fighter battalions, each containing 12 aircraft

Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force shared the information in an interview with El Pais.

According to Ihnat, the priority for Ukrainian pilots is American F-16 fighters, but providing French Rafale and Swedish Gripen is also being considered.

The Air Force spokesman added that it will take at least 6 months to receive the aircraft: the time frame includes both complex political discussions and training of pilots and ground support teams.

The Dutch cabinet will consider helping Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets and paying for Leopard 2 tanks.
As of January 21, the US Ambassador to the OSCE confirmed that Washington would agree to the idea of its partners to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
