Ukraine evacuates all children from Chasiv Yar, near Bakhmut
All children have been evacuated from the town of Chasiv Yar, located near Bakhmut, Donetsk region
Vilne Radio reports that the last remaining families with children left the city on March 16.
“There are no children in Chasiv Yar, the remaining families were evacuated the day before yesterday. We completed this mission jointly with the military administration, the police, and the White Angels. It was difficult, painful, but we did it,” Serhii Chaus, head of the Chasiv Yar Military Administration, said.
Chaus emphasized he is referring to children being evacuated with their parents.
“The children were evacuated under the care of the authorities a long time ago. This was one of the first conditions [for mandatory evacuation],” explained Chaus.
The military administration did not specify how many children have been evacuated from Chasiv Yar and the surrounding villages.
Before the full-scale invasion, the town was home to about 13,000 people.
