Ukraine equips border with Belarus
Ukraine continues to equip the entire border with Belarus to prepare for any possible developments.
Andriy Demchenko, spokesman of the Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, announced the information on United News national telethon.
He noted that Ukraine must be prepared for any developments, as Russia continues to launch attacks using the territory of Belarus. That is why all departments of the Defense Forces are currently involved in strengthening the northern border.
"Our attention is focused on the so-called regional grouping of the allied state, deployed by Russia together with Belarus. Therefore, all the Defense Forces, all departments of the Defense Forces - border guards, the Armed Forces, and the National Guard - are doing everything necessary to strengthen both the border line and the border area," Demchenko stressed.
He also reminded that Belarus, having opened its border to allow the Russian army to enter the territory of Ukraine, had assisted Russia’s full-scale invasion. These lessons, according to Demchenko, have been learned.
The State Border Guard Service spokesman also said that areas along the entire border with Belarus - from Volyn to Chernihiv - are being reinforced.
"This includes equipping border lines and setting up surveillance and recording means in order to understand in advance what is happening on the other side of the state border and to be ready for any developments," noted Demchenko.
He noted that the works are aimed at ensuring that the units of the State Border Guard Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a place to hide in case of enemy shelling.
"We can clearly see how Russia is putting pressure on Belarus to join the full-scale war unleashed by Russia. And Belarus is already supporting Russia by providing its territory, airspace and infrastructure for the relocation of units of the Russian Armed Forces," Demchenko said.
However, he also stressed that the situation "remains unchanged, it is fully controlled". He noted that neither the number of troops nor the nature of Russia’s actions on the territory of Belarus has changed. Instead, they are equipping their units, but no large-scale actions along the border have been recorded.
Demchenko also added that currently the number of mobilized Russian military on the territory of Belarus is about 9,000 people. However, no strike group of Russian or Belarusian troops has been formed.
"There is no threat that today there will be an invasion coming from any direction. But, of course, we must be ready for any developments," stressed Demchenko.
