The press service of the State Border Guard Service says that these measures are necessary due to the region being under Russian control.

“This particular section requires special monitoring and systematic reinforcement, as it is of significant importance for Ukraine’s national security,” the statement reads.

The construction and upgrade of the bypass road will enable border patrols to move more efficiently, respond quickly to changing situations, and perform their duties under better conditions, the press service says.

Additionally, the deployment of bi-spectral surveillance cameras, which capture both visible and infrared images, allows real-time monitoring of the border. Several cameras have already been installed along this section, helping border guards promptly detect violators.

  • In June, the Moldovan Prime Minister stated that Russia aims to deploy 10,000 troops in the self-proclaimed Transnistria, which borders Ukraine’s Odesa region. According to him, the Kremlin seeks to install a pro-Russian government in Moldova to facilitate this plan.
