Ukrainska Pravda reported the information, citing German media outlets Spiegel and Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
The German Ministry of Defense confirmed receiving the request, without specifying how many missiles Kyiv is counting on, DW reports.
According to Spiegel, the request for the Taurus has been received in recent days, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung sources said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the possibility of supplying German missiles with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin in early May.
The Taurus cruise missile is launched from a fighter jet and can carry a 400-kilogram warhead over 500 kilometers. The missile is considered an effective weapon against protected targets such as command bunkers or ammunition depots. The Taurus missile is the German equivalent of the British Storm Shadow.
