UK prepares to send long-range missiles to Ukraine
Great Britain is preparing to send Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 300 km
The Washington Post reported about it.
According to the US publication, this is evidenced by a document published by the International Support Fund for Ukraine, which is coordinated by the British Ministry of Defense.
"In a procurement notice posted May 2 by the British-led International Fund for Ukraine, a group of northern European countries that has set up a mechanism to send weapons to the battlefield, the United Kingdom’s Defense Ministry asked for “expressions of interest” in providing strike capabilities with a range of up to 300 kilometers, or nearly 200 miles. The notice asked for responses within three days," WP wrote.
According to an unnamed British official, a final decision on the transfer of missiles has not been made. He also refused to confirm the type, timing or quantity of weapons Ukraine might receive. WP speculates that these may be British Storm Shadow air-based cruise missiles.
The publication also reminds that in the leaked Pentagon documents it was claimed that US intelligence had confirmed British plans to send an unspecified number of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine.
