Ukraine aims to become full-fledged part of EU in 2 years - Shmyhal
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that Ukraine expects to complete the path to EU membership in two years
This is reported by the Governmental portal.
According to him, Ukraine has the ambition to fulfill all 7 conditions of the European Commission for granting candidate status by the end of this year and to proceed to the negotiation process regarding EU membership.
"We will move at a very fast pace. We analyzed how other countries went through this path. It took five, seven, eight years. We have the ambition to complete this path in a maximum of two years and realize our goal of being a full-fledged part of the EU," Shmyhal said during the Yalta European Strategy meeting held in Kyiv on September 9-10.
He emphasized that Ukraine has defended its civilizational choice and will continue to move towards the West.
"The main conclusion after two hundred days of this bloody war is that Ukraine won strategically. We won in defense of our freedom, our democracy. We won in our strategic vector to Europe. Russia lost strategically. They remained in their archaic Soviet model of existence with their propaganda and with their imperial ambitions, which we will obviously not allow them to realize," Shmyhal noted.
