Ukraine accuses Moscow of breaching "energy ceasefire" following attack on Kherson energy facility
On the morning of April 1, Russian troops struck an energy facility in Kherson, violating an agreement with the United States on the "energy ceasefire"
The attack was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
Due to damage caused by the attack, 45,000 residents of Kherson were left without electricity. Energy workers have already begun reconnecting subscribers to the power grid.
Prokudin warned that power outages might occur due to overload and urged residents to use electricity sparingly.
During a joint press conference with Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia continues to violate its agreement with the U.S. by targeting energy infrastructure in Kherson.
"Following the talks in Riyadh, one of the agreements with the U.S. was to refrain from attacking energy infrastructure. However, Russia continues to violate this commitment. Energy facilities in Kherson, Kharkiv, and Poltava have already been damaged. And this morning, another Russian strike hit an energy facility in Kherson, leaving 45,000 residents without power," Sybiha emphasized.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Thursday, March 27, that the U.S. has proposed signing a full minerals agreement instead of a framework agreement.
