UK Secretary of State for Defence arrives in Kyiv and meets with Reznikov
UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace arrived to Kyiv on an unannounced visit and held a meeting with the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Oleksii Reznikov
This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
During the discussions, the ministers focused on the continued support of Ukraine by its allies. Wallace emphasized that Britain had supplied Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles due to Russia's persistent use of long-range weapons to target civilians.
"We have provided Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles, which possess significant long-range capabilities. These missiles represent some of the initial long-range weaponry provided by our allies to Ukraine. The provision of such weapons is necessary as Russia continues to employ its long-range arsenal to inflict harm on innocent civilians and critical infrastructure," stated Ben Wallace.
He further assured that Ukraine's allies would assist with various types of weaponry, including F-16 fighter jets.
"Russia is gradually realizing that Ukraine's allies are committed to standing alongside them in their right to self-defense, offering support in the form of diverse weapons, ranging from anti-tank missiles and tanks to Storm Shadow missiles, and now F-16s," Wallace emphasized.
Reznikov expressed gratitude to Britain for its support and hinted at the possibility of further weapon supplies.
"I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for the provision of weapons that enable us to effectively engage the enemy at long distances, such as Storm Shadow, and other assets that I am unable to disclose at this moment," Reznikov said, highlighting the successful utilization of long-range missiles on the battlefield.
