UK intelligence highlights dilemma Russia faces due to Ukrainian Armed Forces' Kherson region offensive
Russia lacks the personnel needed to defend the Kherson region and likely plans to deploy mobilized reservists in this sector.
The military intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reports.
Pushing south, Ukrainian units advanced the front line by another 20 km, primarily thanks to advances along the east bank of the Ingulets and the west bank of the Dnipro rivers, but British intelligence notes that they do not yet threaten the main Russian defensive positions.
"Russian command probably views the growing threat in the Nova Kakhovka sector as one of the most pressing problems" - the review says.
In particular, the damaged river crossing over the Dnipro river in this area remains one of the few available ways for them to replenish their forces.
"Russia is facing a dilemma: the withdrawal of combat forces across the Dnipro river makes the defense of the rest of the Kherson region more stable; but the political imperative will be to remain and defend," - British intelligence believes.
Russia has involved most of its undermanned airborne troops, which do not have a sufficient number of personnel, in the defense of Kherson.
"Therefore, Russia currently has few additional high-quality rapid deployment forces to stabilize the front: it is likely to aim to deploy mobilized reservists in this sector" - the review said.
The illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine is continuing.
