UK, France plan to refine peace settlement plan for Ukraine within days
France and the UK, together with Ukraine, plan to finalize a peace settlement plan for the war within a few days in order to present it to the United States
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
"We're looking at putting this plan together in days and not weeks," said one high-ranking European diplomat.
According to another European diplomat, the idea is to have all the "ducks lined up," including improving the dialogue between Washington and Kyiv, while stressing to the U.S. that Russia is the aggressor.
According to Reuters, if the appropriate conditions are met, new meetings could take place in Washington between European representatives and U.S. President Donald Trump. However, it remains unclear whether only the leaders of France and the UK will attend or if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will also participate.
The details of the plan have not been revealed yet, but according to diplomats, one possibility is a partial ceasefire for one month, which would include a halt to air and sea attacks, as well as strikes on energy infrastructure, while leaving ground combat unaffected. The plan is expected to gain support from France, the UK, and a coalition of other interested countries.
