This was announced by the developer BMC Power, Anadolu Agency reports.
The Turkish Armed Forces will begin testing two Turkish Altay battle tanks in late April.
Testing of the vehicles will continue until 2024, after which the issue of mass production will be decided, which is planned to be launched in Ankara. Starting from 2026, the tank will be permanently equipped with a fully domestic engine and transmission. Later, the tank will enter service with the Turkish army. Requests for the supply of tanks come from many foreign countries.
The tank is named after Army General Fahrettin Altay, who commanded the cavalry corps during the Turkish War of Independence in 1919-1923.
