Treatment, prosthetics, rehabilitation, social support: Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs determines procedure for working with freed POWs
Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs has set out a plan for the treatment, provision of prosthetics, rehabilitation care, and social support for released Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs), which also covers working with their families
Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported about this.
"The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has developed an internal departmental procedure for working with released prisoners of war. This procedure covers the entire range of issues that we keep under control, starting from the moment of meeting with the captive. This is the determination of the necessary treatment, prosthetics, and rehabilitation. We work separately with family members of released prisoners: wives, children, and mothers. We determine the necessary package of assistance in solving social and domestic problems," Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko said.
Pavlichenko emphasized that one of the issues is the renewal of lost documents, in particular, ID cards of combatants, driver's licenses, passports, bank cards, and phone numbers.
"Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs has tasked the State Migration Service with restoring all lost documents of persons who were in captivity as soon as possible. Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has 103 applications for the renewal of such documents. The issue of payment of one-time cash assistance in the amount of UAH 100,000 is also under control," Kateryna Pavlichenko said.
Also, a separate block of the program envisages the rehabilitation of soldiers released from captivity.
Health care facilities are currently providing possible medical assistance to soldiers released from captivity.
"The health care facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs provide specialized and emergency assistance. In such a case, experts from leading medical and scientific institutions of Ukraine will be involved in making a diagnosis. Persons released from captivity are provided with qualified psychological and medico-psychological assistance, as well as rehabilitation, from the first day. In order to expand the scope of medical care and rehabilitation, today the reconstruction of one of the specialized institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is being actively carried out, where modern rehabilitation approaches and equipment will be used," Anatolii Smyk, director of the Department of Health Protection and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said.
