This is the latest modification, only 12 in total: expert shares insight into Russian Su-34M downed by Russia in friendly fire
The Russian Su-34M bomber shot down by the Russians themselves is the latest modification of the SU-34, with less than 12 thought to have been produced in total. Russia had compared it with the 5th-generation fighter-bomber F-35, developed by US firm Lockheed Martin
This was reported by spotter Vitaly Trubnikov on his Facebook page.
"There are interesting details about the downed Russian Su-34 bomber in the Luhansk region. In the video of the wreckage of the plane, you can see the last digits of the registration number RF-***90, and only one fixed number for this type of aircraft corresponds to them - RF-95890. According to the website Scramble.nl, the Su-34M flew with this number - the latest modification of this model, of which only 10-12 units have been produced", Vitaly Trubnikov wrote.
He also noted that this aircraft was based at the Khurba Air Base as part of the 277th Bombardment Aviation Regiment.
"It turns out that this air regiment was relocated from the Far East to bomb the Ukrainian Donbas. However, the Russian air defense, frightened by the use of GMLRS missiles, mistakenly intercepted its own bomber. The same bomber, which they compared with the best American planes, could not do anything against far from the best air defense systems. Such things", he wrote.
In addition, he also published a screenshot of Russian media news where Russian propagandists compare these Su-34s with the American F-35 fifth-generation fighter-bombers.
