"They want to understand what exactly went wrong": independent experts will investigate Amnesty International's scandalous report on Ukraine's Armed Forces

Amnesty International's scandalous report on Ukraine's Armed Forces, in which it accuses the Ukrainian military of placing weapons in schools and hospitals and thereby endangering the civilian population, will be investigated by independent experts

This is reported by the DW agency.

According to the message, independent experts will check the scandalous report of Amnesty International from August 4 about the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in which it is said that the Ukrainian military is allegedly placing weapons in schools and hospitals and endangers the civilian population.

"The human rights organization noted that they "want to understand exactly what went wrong" in the situation with the report in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are accused of violating the laws of war", DW wrote.

Experts want to check the conducted research, the process of preparing the material, and the prerequisites for publishing this press release.  It is also planned to study the power decisions within the team and the dynamics at the base of its organizational culture.

"We want to understand exactly what went wrong and why, so that we can learn lessons and improve our work in the field of human rights", AI said.

As DW writes, the organization regrets that the press release was published without sufficient context.

"It did not pay due attention to Russian aggression in violation of international law and numerous war crimes committed by the Russian military and documented by Amnesty International", human rights activists believe.

Amnesty International admitted that the report was compiled without correct and accurate conclusions.

"The findings were not communicated with the delicacy and precision that should be expected from Amnesty. This also applies to the subsequent communication and response of the International Secretariat to public criticism... We condemn the instrumentalization of the press release by the Russian authorities", Amnesty International added.
