They are afraid of sabotage: Russians are preparing for guerrilla war in border areas with Ukraine, - Ministry of Defense
Russian Ministry of Transport has ordered to increase security measures in Rostov region and Krasnodar region bordering with Ukraine, as they are afraid of sabotage on railway
This was announced by Main Department of Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Telegram, publishing a document of Russian Defense Ministry.
"Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation is obliged to ensure interaction of Russian railway with Ministry of Internal Affairs and FSB. Increased security measures are related to the "threat of interference in the operation of transport infrastructure facilities located on borders of Rostov region and Krasnodar region," Defense Ministry said.
Russia introduced counter-sabotage measures on its railways at the beginning of the aggression against Ukraine, but they lasted only a short time - aggressor was counting on blitzkrieg. When "Plan A" failed, such measures continued due to threat of sabotage by so-called rail guerrillas.
Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explains that recent explosions near Belgorod at local oil depot and ammunition depots caused panic in neighboring Russian regions. This marked the beginning of guerrilla warfare and transfer of hostilities to the territory of Russian Federation.
Thus, the "rail guerrillas" purposefully disable Russian railway connection with Ukraine. This makes it difficult to deliver reinforcements to combat zone.
